Adoption in the 1930s?
« on: Tuesday 14 April 20 19:13 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone,

Myself and my partner are expecting a baby soon, and this has made us wonder about the paternal line of his family. We know so much about my family from years of research, but know so little about his.

His Grandad was born in 1937 and sadly passed away in 2017. We know he was adopted, and I've had a look online and apparently we can apply for a certificate from the Adopted Children’s Register. It would seem that this won't give us any information regarding the birth parents though. We have no idea what year he was adopted, but apparently he was very young.

Could anyone please give us some tips on our search?

Thank you!  :)

You need to contact an Intermediary Agency, as outlined here:

Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)
