As the 1841 census doesn't give relationships possibly the younger Caroline & Victoria and maybe the older Eliza were grandchildren rather than children?

Well those latter ones you can check out on the GRO website for mothers maiden name and see if they are children of Eliza Newington.

Noticed that there seems to be a dearth of BUSS baptisms at Mayfield to Benjamin & Fanny between 1834 - 1840.  Maybe they were somewhere else at this time and that is where the elusive Eliza baptism is to be found.

Just to tidy this up Westy here are some burials at Mayfield over the appropriate time period also from the SFHG.

Emily BUSS 1833 age 10 weeks
Samuel Newington 1834 3m
Albert 1840 11w
Caroline 1842 5y
Frederick Thomas 1843 10w
Eliza 1866 67y
Benjamin 1869 79y
Benjamin 1892 66y

Again the gap between 1834 - 1840, suggestive of being somewhere else at that time.

Thanks so much Pheno.

Yes it seems they must have moved a bit such as perhaps to Burwash although Mayfield seems to be their main place.

Much appreciated.
