Online Genealogy course
« on: Thursday 16 April 20 13:07 BST (UK) »
 Hello all.

Has anybody done an online genealogy course?

Can anyone recommend one to do?

Or are they not worth doing.

I have been researching my family history for 15+ years every now and then due to family and work.

Thanks
Lisa

There is a course online that the centre of excellence are doing.

Just wondered if worth doing or not.

Or if anyone has done any that are worth doing or not.

There is the short, free course on FutureLearn, also run by Strathclyde University

I would look at those training suppliers who are more recognised within the genealogical community:

For a course covering a range of topics, and at varying levels, then look at those run by the IHGS  -

Of if you want to do a shorter course on a more specific aspect of research, then I would recommend the courses run by Pharos:

If you want to be more academic, then the genealogy programme run by Strathclyde University is highly regarded. The University of Dundee also has a Family History programme of courses.
