Could someone please look and see if this man got a death notice/obituary? I don't know if it would be when he died, or closer to when he was buried?

George  Clark,  died  December  27,  1924,  at  Boston  City Hospital of pneumonia, age 45?, buried February 26, 1925  in Mount Hope Cemetery.

He might be my wife's great grandfather. I lose track of him after 1913.

That's why I think it might be him. He "went to pieces" after his wife died, according to the family. So he could have been living on the street, or at least out of touch with them.

It might have taken someone two months to find his family.

I got the information from this man's death record at the Mass. Registry, it isn't on line or I would check it again. I haven't looked at this side of the family in a long while.

Just wondered if they had the facilities to store a body for such a long time back in those days. When did his wife die?

Thanks. I forgot about that and didn't know the answer.

His wife died in 1907 in Cambridge MA. George was alive in 1913 when he provided the information for a late registration of the birth of one of his daughters. She was 18 at the time and most likely in Boston, the downtown area.  She married in Boston in 1919 and worked there before she married.

So a death at Boston City Hospital would fit for him. I haven't found any better match in Boston or Cambridge.

As it turns out, 1924 was VERY cold.  That may explain why he was not promptly buried - the ground may have been frozen too hard to readily dig a grave.

My wife's cousin was able to look for this George Clark's death notice in the Boston Globe and did not find one. She looked from the day of his death through the day after his burial. She did not have access to the Boston Herald's archives. And there were other Boston papers at the time.

I did a search of the Boston Herald & Boston Traveler  between the date of death & burial and came up with nothing.
