The Clarks
« on: Friday 17 April 20 15:19 BST (UK) »
Hi, I have the Clark family in Castle St, Salisbury on the 1861 Census:

Frederic(k) Clark (45) Coach Builder - born London
Jane Clark (nee Garrett) (48) - Fruiterer - Hythe, Kent  (dies aged 49 in 1861)
George (22) Coach Body Maker  b Salisbury  1838-1929
Harry (20) Coach Painter b Salisbury            1840-1923
Kate (Eliza Catharine) (18) b Salisbury
Fanny (Fanny Louisa) (13) - Scholar - b. Salisbury
Alice (11) - Scholar - b. Salisbury                 1849-1930s

I cannot locate Frederick nor daughter Fanny after 1861 and Kate after 1871 (where she is still with the rest of the siblings at 24 Castle St).  None of them appeared to have died in the Salisbury area.

Can anyone assist in locating the elusive trio ?  Thanks Kanskar

Have you checked marriages for Fanny Louisa as she would be 23 by 1871 and could be under a married name.

Interesting there is a marriage record in Paris France of Fanny Louisa Clark of the parish of Salisbury Wilts marrying James Harding parish of Whitchurch Hants 2 Jan 1879 so something to look into there.

Millipede - I thought I had. Thanks for the reminder.

I had found a possible marriage for a Fanny Louisa Clark to George Miller in Camberwell Sep 1868 Qtr Ref 1d 918.   But Paris might trump that. What is the source for the marriage ?

Thanks

That was a good find Millie.  I wonder how many other 'missing' marriages took place in the Embassy in Paris.

Rosie/Milliepede - Thank you for the reference and source.  I am not subscribed to FindMyPast.

Would it be possible please if you could kindly confirm Fanny's father details on the certificate.  Is he stated as deceased ?

Thank you

Possible - Marriage to James Harding, British Embassy Paris 1879
Maybe - Marriage to George Miller (Camberwell Reg Dist Sep 1868)

Kate (Eliza Catherine) - where is she after 1871 ?
