Emma Williams, Died 1891 Gibraltar
« on: Friday 17 April 20 21:05 BST (UK) »
A Great Aunt Emma Williams, nee King, Died 1891 Buena Vista, Gibraltar. Her husband was Richard Kendrick Williams and i believe he served with The Kings Liverpool Regiment. They had 3 children I am aware of, the eldest Alice  born in Natal in 1885, Richard born 1887 at Straights Settlements, Singapore and Gladys born 1888 also Singapore.
I have not ordered a British Armed Forces And Overseas Deaths And Burials certificate before...are they available to order..... will there be a cause of death?
I feel a connection to Emma as I too spent time in Gibraltar (early 1980's) with young children and I was a similar age to Emma. Gibraltar has a lot of history and I now wonder if I stood where she stood when I visited the fish market etc etc. I don't know where she was buried. I know her husband remarried a couple of years later in Uk. Any suggestions where I may find out more.

It's from the Gibraltar National Archives - a fantastic resource for military BMDs.

You can order an overseas death certificate from the UK GRO but I doubt that it will give you much more information, if any.

A even big thank you......followed the link which took me to Gibraltar archives.
I had thought that see possibly could have died in childbirth..... so did search the Gro Army Birth Indices and found two names Violet Elsie and William Aubrey  both Williams born 1891. With your help I now know Emma gave birth to Violet Elsie

It appears that he went on to pension in 1902, and by then he was 4267, Kings Liverpool Regiment, having served as a Sergeant Major in the Boer War in the Composite Cyclists unit.
