Looks as though it’s the one film for St Michaels that hasn’t yet been digitised.

Have you looked for his death on freebmd to establish his age?  He presumably died sometime between 1856 - 1861

How do you know he was b Oldham or Ashton?

Mary was living in Oldham in 1861 but 2 eldest children were b Burnley and youngest Ashton so James could have died Ashton/Oldham/Burnley

There are a number of Baptisms for a James Winterbottom with father James in & around the areas mentioned (1815-25).
Most fathers appear to be weavers which isn't a surprise.
You need his marriage cert.

Hi they were married Oldham 1844 and she is shown as a widow in 1861 Oldham there is a death on Lancashire BMD 1861 age 40 Oldham so maybe that’s the one if his death was before April when the census was done. Can’t find his birth (none seem to fit with the 1844 marriage )nor where they were in the 1851 census. Thanks
