West Lutton lookup please.
« on: Wednesday 22 April 20 10:01 BST (UK) »

Mabel Annie Butler was Born in West Lutton in 1897. Parents John Butler and Mary Denny.

I've found the family on the 1901 Census at Kirkby Misperton.

What I'm trying to ascertain is whether John Butler's family originate from Ireland. (I have other Butler's in Manchester who came over via County Galway, but I don't know if there's any link).

Any help welcomed.

Cheers, Romilly.

According to the 1901 census John Butler was born in Pockthorp in Yorkshire.

Do you have the family in any other census?  Do you have the marriage certificate for John and Mary (Pollie) - 1894?

No, I don't have any Certs for this family, because I'm not totally sure that I have any connection with them.

I'm trying to follow them back from the Tree of one of my DNA Matches, (which I think has inaccuracies in it) to see if any branches coincide with mine...

I had thought it would be fairly straightforward!

Thanks for the help,
Romilly.

1911 census - John says again he was born in Pockthorpe.

1891 - transcribed as Butter.  Parents, Thomas and Mary, born Mayo, Ireland. John born Pontefract:-\

Gosh, - many thanks BumbleBee!

I've really been going round the houses with different Butler's...:-)

And it confirms that they originated in Ireland!!

I shall see if I can tie them into the Manchester Butler's now...
