Bannister ,Banks, Bannister of Wolverhampton mine Owners
« on: Thursday 23 April 20 14:29 BST (UK) »
 hello
I came across an Article attached to a family tree   that said  William Bannister b 1795 Dudley went to New Zealand in 1840 with his family -- where he latter died . The article said the move was due to heavy losses from flooding to his mines . He was said to be a well to do pit owner and Founder of the firm  Bannister,Banks ,Bannister of Wolverhampton.
I have tried with out success to confirm if this was true.
His wife was Mary Eades. Family John Eades Bannister, William Bannister,Edwin Bannister,Robert Elijah Bannister.

Any information about the company and his role in in much appreciated prior to leaving England .
Thank You .

I have just looked and found something. The website is Black Country Muse.I typed in Bannister mine. This came up..Ettingshall colliery owned by Bannister and co.who sold it to Jonathon Williams in the early 1800s.The area is quite near me,i can probably find a bit out about Ettingshall colliery, but have a look first to see if its the right place. There are loads and loads of mines mentioned.Hope that helps.Glenys
