Thanks again everyone. Rose Smart seems worth investigating when I can get to town to order some birth certificates. She certainly fits in with the date of birth.The death in 1954 was a year after I was born, which may explain why Grandma rarely spoke of her. She never spoke about my cousin who was killed by a lorry just after my birth either, it seemed a taboo subject to speak of the dead where Grandma was concerned. Thanks for all the help, it's very much appreciated.

Rose Smart was my grandma.Rosemary Smart/ Smith was my mother.Have been trying to find info on my grandfather Thomas Smart.

Hi Sea God, so it looks like your grandfather was my great uncle by marriage. I don't have any real information on him yet but will be happy to share anything I come across.

Hi Tuggy bear. Thanks for reply .I have no info. Only that my grandfather. Divorced my grandmother Rose Smart. And moved to Skegness and started another family.Hope this help you.

Thank you Sea God. I have no information at all about your granddad and I'm not sure my grandma knew anything about her sisters marriage as  she rarely kept in touch with most of her siblings due to having made a bad marriage that she didn't want to make. I will take a look through what I have and let you know.

Have not given his full name as not checked for a death record (mmn Newton) FreeBMD


I have no info. Only that my grandfather. Divorced my grandmother Rose Smart. And moved to Skegness and started another family.Hope this help you.


Do you know the year they divorced that might help with finding a second marriage - you can search FreeBMD
