Nobletts of Gorey and Ballinastraw
« on: Friday 24 April 20 16:56 BST (UK) »
Does anyone have an information on WILLIAM NOBLETT born about 1861. I believe his parents were JOHN NOBLETT and MARY ANNE MOORE who married at Hollyfort Church, Kilnahue 15th Feb 1860.Civil birth records are not available for the early 1860s. I know William married ELIZA JANE ROBERTS and he died in 1937. I I would be grateful of any info. of his birth, baptism, any siblings (there is probably a FRANCIS) and of his burial. Also I cannot find him on the 1901/11 Census though his family are living at Ballinastraw.

https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1866/03510/2290853.pdf
but at least it gives the all important townland Ballythomas
and a brother in 1865
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1865/03586/2322229.pdf

A John Noblett died in 1888 Ballythomas aged 62 informant was daughter Anne Maria (I think)

If this is your John, there are no obviously family members named as executors

Is this the Francis you referred to
Death of Francis at Ballythomas informant his brother Thomas

I think this is Anna Maria married to Harry Monck 1890
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Wicklow/Coolboy/Village_of_Coolboy/1818508/
1901 Census gives her born Wicklow but that could be a mix up,
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Wicklow/Coolboy/Village_of_Coolboy/1818508/
by 1911 she has remarried this time her place of birth is Wexford

Hi

Don’t know whether you’re aware but the Church of Ireland records for Bunclody (Previously Newtownbarry) Parish are freely available at:-

https://www.ireland.anglican.org/cmsfiles/pdf/AboutUs/library/AngRecord/NTBFerns/NTB_complete_to_1903.pdf

Plenty of the surnames you’re searching for are mentioned.

Regards
L

On the Will Calendar for John Noblett notice the address is Ballythomas also known as Wicklow Gap.
There is this marriage for a Thomas Noblett in 1897 which I think is the Thomas on Francis' death
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1897/10443/5803330.pdf
His witness is H Monck

1901

For some reason Mary Anne the wife is transcribed as Brid but clearly on the original it's Mary Anne
Mother Mary Anne is also present.

Eliza Jane is listed in the Landholder in both 1901 and 1911 which is a bit odd as she is married.
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai003570548/
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai001275345/
Just a possibility which might explain why William is not at home and is not listed as Landholder.
There is a W N aged 39 Farmer, Church of Ireland  born Wexford married in hospital in Enniscorthy in 1901, think he is still there in 1911
Number 246

Edited to add
1911
Number 139
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai003565156/http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai003565156/ this one has a place name, needs checking could mean I'm way off.

Edited again

Thanks for the Asylum census returns. I would never have looked for W. N. ! This ties up with his death in the hospital.
Civil records are not available for the period 1860-64 so I am reliant on parish registers for that period for births & baptisms for WILLIAM, FRANCIS, THOMAS & ANNA MARIA. As I live in England I would be grateful if anyone who has a spare moment could check registers in Gorey/Ballinastraw.
Once again many thanks.
