There are other little bits which might help but you need to peruse all this information first.
Kelly is such a difficult name to research.
However you can see from those two marriages that John’s father was
Joseph from Ireland (somewhere) and not Patrick (from Crossmolina).
An interesting thing I noticed was that John and Mary Lennon’s witness was William
Strahan.
In 1881, John Kelly’s neighbour was a William Strahan b abt 1852
There is a son in that household - William Gayton Strahan b 1874.
If you recall, Joseph married Ellen Strahen in 1851
1851 2182/208/46
Ellen Strahan 24 yrs is living with her parents Guyton and Ellen.
One would assume that young William Strahan, the witness is related to Ellen - maybe a nephew.
A lot to take in here - and we are not sure that it is the right family but I am leaning towards it being so
)
Lastly, there is a possible first marriage for Joseph
17th June 1845
Joseph Kelley 24 yrs address Pall Mall - parents John and Mary
Cath McAnnanny 20 yrs address. Vernon Street parents Bernard and Mary
There are some births to this couple and I presume deaths for the same children but I cannot see a birth for a John with mmn McAnnanny. As I said earlier, the church record does not show mother’s surname.
There is a burial October 1850 for Cath Kelly 26 yrs of Westmorland Street which is the same address as 1851 census for Joseph and young John.
