2 Challen lads born Eton both have MMN Passingham

I think a marriage cert would be a good idea

Hi - I have just joined the website, today and seen your chat regarding Willie Challen, and may be able to help.  He was my great grandfather.
Willie was born to Sarah Jane Challen who was around 16, and unmarried, and hence no father on the certificate.  We believe she was sent to Brighton, to have him, and he was then registered in Surrey.  Sarah went back to live in her fathers home (Stephen Challen).  Willie, instead of being abandoned, was brought up by his great aunt, Anne Trevatt (sister of Sarahs mother).  Sarah never had another child, and only married in her forties, to Justus Kimber, after her father died.  Willie went on to marry my great grandmother Lillian Passingham.  They had 3 sons (William John, Albert and my grandad, Leonard).  Willie never met his mother, but when she died in 1922, she left him an inheritance in her will.  My grandfather remembers his father introducing him to a man who was said to be his uncle George (younger brother of Sarah).  My grandfather went on to live until 2005.
My father speaks fondly of his grandad, Willie, and I can confirm that he died around 1950 and is buried in the main church in Slough with my great grandmother.
As a little side note, I do have a family bible, with all of the Trevatts names in it, along with my great grandfathers.  It was this bible that spurred me on to find out who they were, as the family had obviously buried this secret for many years.
Please let me know if there is anything else you would like to know.  His story has always fascinated me.

Hello and welcome to Rootschat.
Thank you so much for all the information on Willie. My connection is with the Trevatt family. John Trevatt (who married Anne Edwards) was my 1st cousin 3 times removed - so quite distant. I would be interested in which Trevatts are mentioned in the family Bible you have. John Trevatt's parents were Charles Trevatt and Mary Stace, and Charles's parents were another John Trevatt and Esther Child who were also my direct ancestors.
