No. There is an Edwin Challen in Kingston RD but he would probably have just turned 2  by 1881 census, otherwise no male Challens around the right time.  Edwin's mmn is Bradley.  Levi Challen and Elizabeth Bradley married Clapham in 1870, his father was William Challen. Looks like completely separate family.

Would have thought there would be a registration, have you looked at just Willie born around that time, or is that his second name, he might be a william of course, or go forward to 1939 if you can, can't access my own computer at this moment,  1901 he was still Willie Challen

As a matter of interest my husband family were Challen but they were from Kent areas

Was their a will for Mr trevatt?

I have dob from the 1939 of 1 May 1879, fits with age in 1881, he would be abt 1 year and 11 months.  Puts registration squarely in Q2 1879. I have also found a William Challen in 1891 as a pupil  at British Orphan Asylum at Upton cum Chalvey. But he is listed as 14 and born in Brighton.

The wife's name on 1911 was Lillian Annie, so looks like right marriage. Some on line trees have her maiden name as Passingham, so might have been a widow.

Have checked mmn of all Willie / Williams reg in Q2 1879 Kingston. None with mmn Challen but there is a William Stone with mmn Challis.
