Isfield Parish Records Help.
« on: Saturday 25 April 20 21:27 BST (UK) »
Hi does anyone have Isfield Parish records I am trying to find a Marriage for my 4x Great Grandparents Leonard Haizelden and wife Mary ? they had their first child Samuel c 1816 so the marriage would be just before, also if there are any baptisms for this couple too.
I have children's names taken from the census but can't see Baptisms on FindMyPast or Ancestry..

Thank you for your time

Thanks Omega..it's making me wonder where they married now and its a bit earlier than I thought. Leonard was born in Chiddingly looks like his mother was taken advantage of by a wealthier man who maybe she worked for so he was illegitimate..I am still unsure of his wife Mary's surname Sussex opc has her called Mary Pace born Kent ..are there any burial records ?

Thanks again colette.

Hello Colette

I noted on the 1851 census Mary was born Brenchley , Kent. So maybe that's where they married.

Don't know if you have Leonards baptisum

Baptised at Chiddingly
Leonard,Baptized 18 Aug 1787

BORN 26 July 1787

Gives his surname as Lashmar
Maybe a clue about his Father
Mum, Charity Hazelden

I found Leonards burial in Isfield ,24 May 1857

I couldn't find a burial for Mary.

Thanks everyone I do have the official Bastardy Bond from Sussex Records office its framed on my wall haha..I believe Mary went to live in Lewisham with her daughter Eliza..Charity Leonard's mother she sounds like she was a lass...she married Thomas Duffield and had a brood of children and another Illegitimate child after he died.

Thanks for Leonard's burial
