The transcript of the marriage record for James Primrose Fraser and Catherine Mckenzie indicates that Catherine's parents were Donald and Lexy. They were married 24 Apr 1907.

The record is free to view at the Nova Scotia Historical Vital Records website.

Bit of a summary...

It appears we are looking at 2 Donald Mackenzie/Mckenzies, both born in 1836.

The Donald born 08 Feb 1836 and living in Boularderie, Victoria County (and whose findagrave entry was posted earlier by *Sandra*) was married to a Mary according to his son Adam's 1903 marriage record. The birth record for Adam's brother Charles Malcolm gives Mary's maiden name as Mcrae. Donald died in 1917.

The Donald married to Lexy was born 12 Mar 1836 according to the 1901 census. They were living in River John, Pictou County. This is the widowed Donald who is found living with James Primrose Fraser and his wife Catherine Mckenzie in the 1921 census. So he is still alive at this point.

That one was discounted in the same reply quoting the 1921 census. reply 8

It is suspected Donald McKenzie died 1922 but sadly he isn't listed as buried at Four Mile Brook Cemetery.
