Llansannan births
« on: Sunday 26 April 20 12:06 BST (UK) »
Can anyone help me in tracing the births of John Parry (circa 1657) and Lowry Williams (circa 1660) in Llansannan. I have their marriage in 1683 in Llansannan - thanks to Clwyd FHS. Are their any existing parish records/Bishops transcripts pre-1666 anywhere?

I think those dates are pre-parish records for Llansannan. See

Hi Gadget,

As I feared, so that is it.

Nice to hear from you again. Stay safe.

It's sad when that happens but you're lucky to get back that far without hitting the patronymics! Is there anything in the marriage entry of naming of children that might help  :-\

You take care too.

That's my line of thinking - children were Thomas, Hugh and Harry. Harry is my line of ancestry.

All the children are named as "ap John" in Bishops Transcripts. Harry becomes Jones via patronymics, with his son named as Robert Jones.

Anglican clergy of that time have a lot to answer for!

An outside possibility of John Parry being a John ap Harry

Have a Harry Parry buried in Llansannan in 1694, which would give a time frame of him being John Parry's father.

No other details in parish register. Parry seems to be an uncommon name in Llansannan parish registers. Just a handful in bmd's

Have you tried Welsh wills? Sometimes they come up trumps.

Hi Gadget,

historical wills are an area outside my expertise - would a manual labourer leave a will? If so, where would I look.
