« on: Sunday 26 April 20 23:27 BST (UK) »
A family member thought Charles may have been a Headmaster of a Boys School. The family seem to be living in WestHam London. Essex back then. Can any one help me with information about Charles W. Sumner.

The marriage certificate should have his occupation at the time on it.

You could look for the family in 1939, but he may have changed his job by then.

Do you have anything known about him, such as parents, age etc?

Finding him in 1911 may be useful.

His WW1 attestation form filled out in 1916 puts his middle name as William, and parents are Charles and Phoebe, confirming Jamjar's post with census links.  The document was updated to include his marriage to Dora Rose Best* on 6.2. 18, and under the heading of "particulars for children" states  Charles Wm. Sumner, born 25.1.18 (illeg).

At the time of attestation, he gave his trade as wood grinder.  However, he was just 18 at the time, so a bit early for him to be a headmaster, if that indeed was what he became.

* Edited because I put the wrong last name. I should not post so late at night. Thankyou to Jamjar for picking up on it!
