Trying to find what became of Edith Coleman
« on: Monday 27 April 20 22:31 BST (UK) »
Hello,

Edith’s birth was registered in April-May-June 1895, in Devizes R.D. She would’ve been born in Littleton Panell, now contiguous with West Lavington. We last see her in Market Lavington in 1911. She was alive around the 1960s, as I have a photo of her with her mother and 4/5 siblings from then.

I’d appreciate any help!

Did she marry?  Have you found her on the 1939 register as I can't see anybody with that birthyear in Wiltshire apart from one born 1893

I presume she married but I don’t know for sure. No trace of a marriage in Wiltshire. I went through all the Ediths dying in the Devizes district born 1895 and looked for corresponding marriages but none were her. No sign of an unmarried Edith Coleman on the 1939 Register.

You need to establish her actual birthdate

Births Jun 1895
Coleman    Edith     Devizes    5a   110

There is a death in 1977 but in Northants - Edith Coleman b 14.5.1895

Not her - see 1939 register

I’ll see if I can find her baptism. That might give us a closer guess.

That's a blow - the month of birth on the 1939 entry corresponds with a June qtr registration

I’ve gone through the Ediths born May 1895 living in Wiltshire in 1939. Will try April.
