Lily (Lillie) Gray widowed 1882

Hi all, I am trying to find information about Lily Gray, nee CONANLAND.
Her marriage printout on her marriage to Charles William Gentry states that she was widowed  on 08/10/1882.
I have been unable to find any reference to this or to her maiden name' She appears to have been living in Auckland in the mid 90's and is on the Women's Suffrage petition.
Haven't found another marriage  or a death for her.
Have attached the wedding printout and the Registry entry in ITMs.

Hi Whenu,

The NZSG NZ Brides & Grooms index gives her surname as GRAY, formerly COWANLAND. I can't find any other record of that name in the NZSG Kiwi Index.

The NZSG Marriage Index 1836-1956 confirms her surname as COWANLAND.

There was an 1882 marriage for Charles William GENTRY to a Sarah SOWTER, which probably took place at Thames as well, which might relate to his being a widower by 1885.

This is Charles's third marriage.
More after info on Lily at the moment, finding hard to track down.

Yes, I'm having the same problem. ???

I can't find any mention of COWANLAND or variants on Papers Past, nor can I find any Google search results for that surname, or her father.

Have you contacted the Thames Treasury website to see if they have any information? I can't get any strikes from a search of their website, but a detailed email might get some results.

With no record of her in NZ I wonder if she died in Australia?

Couldn't find her in the Vic or NSW records.
Have seen the other posts, have met the OP a couple of years back.
His Second wife will be a separate post on her own.
He died in NSW in 1902.

If Lily was born in Ireland then it is likely that the name Conanland/Cowanland is a mishearing of Conygham/Cunningham/Cunninham.* There are many variations on the name of her mother Bridget. Houlihan, Halohan/Hoolihan, Hallohan Hoolohan.   

Oh the joy of researching in Ireland!

Also Canningham etc. 

Perhaps she was married and widowed in Ireland or Australia? Or England if the C/ham family tried their luck there. 

* Or other surnames with 'nan or 'han at the end.  Callanan etc.  Callahan

There is a child born to this couple.
