Help tracing a second marriage and possible divorce

I'm trying to trace a second marriage for my uncle John Simpson Jackson. A few facts about John
born in Manchester in Q2 1908
Married his first wife Isabella Onley (DOB 23/10/1908) in July 1932
Isabella died in 1965
He died in Western-super-Mare in 1980
John and Isabella may have got divorced so his second marriage could be before 1965. His second wife was known as Gus but I know that wasn't her given name.
So I've got a couple of questions
How do I find out if Isabella and John were divorced
As I have lots of unknowns (e.g.name of spouse, year, place ) how can I narrow down my possible options. John Jackson is unfortunately very common
I'd be very grateful for any advice

Is there an alternative surname for isabella o the 1939 register?
(Indicating remarriage)
With whom is john Simpson jackson buried?
Or who organised cremation?
All census look up transcriptions are Crown Copyright

In the 1939 register, Isabella is still married to John Jackson. No alternative surname
I'll need to try and find his burial or cremation record. So far I've found the death register index and a probate listing.

You need to get the death certificate to see who was the informant, and also any information from the probate record. Did he have any children from his first marriage?
Added:
Presumably it is your tree on Ancestry - have you asked his children about a second wife|?

were you aware that John and Isabella may have had a son 31 months s before they married ?? -
www.freebmd.org.uk
- births - Jackson - Onley
if so - both would have been 21 - so - why didn't
they marry until over 2 years later
- curious

Just a tiny correction - death would have been in
Weston
-Super-Mare, not Western
Mullingar, Westmeath Ireland: Gilligan/Wall/Meagher/Maher/Gray/O'Hara/Corroon (various spellings)
Bristol: Woodman/James/Derrick
Bristol/Somerset: Saunders/Wilmot
Gloucestershire:Woodman/Mathews/Tandy/Stinchcombe/Marten/Thompson
Wiltshire: Mathews
Carmarthen: Thomas, Lewis
Australia: Mary Lewis, transportee, married Henry Brown - what happened to her?

Looks like John left a will
John Simpson Jackson of 5 Albert Court, Albert Avenue, Weston-Super-Mare, died 26 January 1980, Probate Bristol 23 May 1980 £31501
You may like to consider getting the will and see who is mentioned in it.

There is a Q3 1965 Registration for the death of an Isabella Jackson in Manchester as is also shown on the tree in Ancestry.
Thing is I cannot find any Probate for her which to me indicates that they were still married.
