Roy family on the Isle of Man
« on: Thursday 30 April 20 04:36 BST (UK) »
Hi, my name is Alex and I am also looking for info on the Roy family. Specifically, Robert Roy, 1658-1698 married to Isobel Innes. His parents names are a variation of Janet (sp?) Davy/Davis/Davidson and Robert Row.

I have not found any birth, death, or marriage certificates for Robert. The only certificate or legal document I found on him was the baptism of his son Joseph.

Joseph Roy was born 9/11/1686, and baptized at the Forres parish, in Moray Scotland. Moray is where Isobel grew up, so it appears they did not travel far. I am trying to find any info on where Robert came from, how Isobel had met him, etc.

If anyone knows anything I would love to discuss!

I also have hit a road block in finding info on Robert Roy.

I am wondering if his parents were from France or England.  More likely France.

I did find a Robert Row who had a son named Robert Roy.  But nothing else.
