2nd Foot Guards
« on: Thursday 30 April 20 10:19 BST (UK) »
 Hello
In exploring a family tree I have found some records but I am not sure what they mean. Samuel Gilman b 1766 Minchampton Gloucestershire is listed as a Pensioner in 13.10.1814.
Record on Ancestry . Says he  served 14 years with the 2nd Foot Guards. Duke of Cambridge  . Complaint/reason for pension ?  given as  Rheumatism--record very hard to read sorry.
Was this a local Militia ?
Record also says he is a   Labourer --he worked in the Cloth Industry but this information was taken years latter from information on a marriage certificate for one of his children.

Interested in any information.
Thank You .

His discharge paper also states in words that he was aged 27 on enlistment in May 1800 and  42 in October 1814, though 42 has been overwritten 48 on the cover, Rheumatism, infirm, near sighted.
