Hilda Marie was travelling by herself in 1882 but I would treat it with caution as the image lists her destination as New York :-\

I have just found this possible onward journey to New York

Hilda M Olson
Arrival Date: 15 Feb 1882
Age:    25
Ethnicity/ Nationality: Swedish
Place of Origin:    Sweden
Port of Departure:    Liverpool, England and Queenstown, Ireland
Destination:    United States of America
Port of Arrival:    New York, New York
Ship Name:    England

This looks to be her:
Here is Hilda leaving Stockholm, Klara Parish. She is recorded as first leaving for England then changed to USA. It looks as though she stayed in England or she came back:

She was born Tilda Maria in Förlösa Parish. She had a twin brother Joel who died 1860:

Thanks jamcat95 for the information you have found about Hilda. Always surprises me where you find all this info.

As the records are in Swedish it is impossible to understand what each coloumn means. On her travel to England it is crossed out and substituted for another word which I cannot read. Do you know what the examination books refers to. Is Forlosa Parish within Stockholm or was she born somewhere else.
Anything you can explain further on the documents you have found would be very much appreciated. Sorry about all the questions but I am finding this all very exciting.

Hi
The other word is "Amerika".

"Do you know what the examination books refers to"
The examination book is like a census. The info shows where she is living, her birth, were she came from, where she went if she moved etc etc. It also shows when the priest examined her knowledge of the bible etc.

Förlösa Parish is in Småland, quite a long way from Stockholm.

Just to get her marriage certificate to compare father's name.
Her father's name was Johan Olsson Franman.
Her mother's name was Maria Nilsdotter.

Hi Ian

Many thanks for taking the trouble to research and answer my questions, very much appreciated. If Hilda left Stockholm for England/ USA do you think she may have moved sometime earlier from Forlosa Smaland to Stockholm. Looking at the map of Sweden it would seem, if she was still in Forlosa, to travel to Gotheberg to catch a ship to the UK, although I am probably completely wrong with this scenario .

You say her father was Johan Olsson FRANMAN. Why Franman if Hida's name was Olsen, is this a Swedish tradition of naming?

I will start looking for when she left the USA to return to the UK and see if there was an ongoing passage back to Sweden that she never took?

Thanks again for all your work on my behalf.

You're welcome.

She left Förlösa for Stockholm 14 June 1872. Her half brother left for Germany 1871:

In Sweden back then they used the patronymic system. Her name would have been Hilda Johansdotter (daughter of Johan). It looks as though she took his surname Olsson. Her father seems to have dropped the Franman name later on. The Olsen surname in England would have been the English spelling.
