2nd Cousin, once removed?
« on: Tuesday 05 May 20 16:29 BST (UK) »
I've been trying out the WATO Tool, - DNA Painter, -

And it has come up with the probability that myself and a DNA Match that I can't place, - might be 2nd Cousins, once removed.

My query is, - does this mean that we probably shared a set of GreatGrandparents? Or is it further back?

2nd cousins share Great Grandparents A&B

2nd cousins once removed - one of you is A&B's great grandchild and the other is A&B's greatx2 grandchild.

I always find that chart helpful.

Many Thanks for the Chart, - much appreciated.

I'm having difficulty concentrating on this today!

Another issue is that because my Father was 30 years older than my Mother, - and it's a Paternal match that I'm looking at, - I'm probably in a different generation to him!

I get terribly confused myself, and have to give myself a good talking to.

I also write it down in a list like this, with names and dob

me
my father
my grandmother
my great grandfather

them
their mother
their grandfather
their great grandmother

Sounds like a good plan!:-)

My Match's side is no problem, - he has a very large Public Tree on Ancestry.

But my side goes off down a cul de sac with my Paternal Grandfather:-(

I'll just have to improvise...(!)
