When did William Jackson Hall (born Q Sept 1868 Bellingham) die?

Oh Newcastle Poly? That took me back more years than I care to remember.
Way back (about 1970, when I was about 17) I got a phonecall from a boy I sort of knew but not very well. He was older than I and he went to Newcastle Poly. He was ringing to invite me to the end of term ball (may have been the graduation ball, I forget now).

Ever up for a night out, I accepted.

Didn't go out with him again (he was a bit boring) but it was a really good do :-)

No. That wasn't me. During my stay, we switched to the new Union building. 20 oz pints for 10 pence. Oh my goodness!

Just as I was about to go to bed, I had a thought.

I tried Family Search, they have some Lemington Cemetery records (search in the catalogue for England, Northumberland' Lemmington' and they then come up correctly billed as Lemington - I've tried reporting that error numerous times, but it hasn't been corrected)

Sadly they don't have the burial registers for 1930 BUT they have an index for burials that covers 1930 which gives the folio and grave number for the graves register and they also have grave registers :-)

and they do have the burial register for 1957 for Marion

So the likely death registration I found for William now has the extra verification needed to confirm it :-) and Marion was known to her friends as Polly!

Simply marvellous! I am able to sign into Family Search and I can see all the records.
Yes. Everything fits together perfectly. I shall add all the information to my Ancestry family tree.
Now I wish I'd asked you for a date during my stay in Newcastle.  Would you believe that I never went to Scotland during my time there and visited Scotland for the first time in 2017.

The only discrepancy I now see is that the date of interment for Marion is 27th June 1957 and she is reported as having died on 8th July 1957. Surely it has to be a clerical error.

Looking at the graves register it 'does' say 27th June for Marion's interment
but the actual grave register says 10th July.

If you look a couple of lines above her entry in the burial register there is another Hall burial on the same page - which was on 27th June.

I'd assume whoever was writing up the grave register was using the details from the burials book, wrote down her name, age  correctly and then looked at the wrong line when they looked for the burial date?
Its the only explanation I can think of.

As I was unsure about the church name in the death announcement I asked someone else to look and see what they thought (take a bow JenB - I appreciate the help)

 She (and now I, after a false start) thinks it was Whorlton Church
and she gave me this link for the church details

Yes. That is a plausible explanation. 10th July was the date of interment anyway and we have the right couple.
I see Whorlton Church and will add that to my tree info. Thanks.
I still have more mysteries in the Jackson Hall family, so I'll probably post again.
