I cannot see a census entry in 1851 Cullompton for young Edward, the one I posted for Edward (widower) is the only other one I can see.

It would not have been unusual for the birth of your Edward not to have been registered.

Elizabeth Hall age 29 death recorded 1850 Tiverton and Dulverton

If Elizabeth died after childbirth which would explain why the father registered the birth of Edward.

Wondering if Thomas and Caroline could have been her aunt and uncle, with Thomas being a  sister to Elizabeths mother Elizabeth?
A span between siblings of 16 years but we have that in our family!

Banns in 13th March 1853 for the marriage of Thomas Tooze & Caroline Cottrell have an additional note as Thomas's father William Tooze objected to the marriage as Thomas was under age   :).  They appear to have married later that year.

Can you please list all the information on the marriage document that you have.

What children did this couple have.....names...birthplace......date.
