Marriage Record...
« on: Wednesday 06 May 20 22:58 BST (UK) »
Hello everyone, need some help :)

I have a marriage record for MATHEW JAMISON / JONET MILER - date is supposed to be 01/02/1700 Place is Kilsyth.

I think I can make out the Mathew Jamison but not much else. Can anyone transcribe their entry for me?

Seems to be the 10th rather than the 1st.

10    Compired Mathow Jamison
        and gav In [.orro..] parish
and gave up his name to
        be proclamed with Jonet
        miler In this parish

"Compired" = compeared. Can't think what his parish is.

The marriage itself (separate from the proclamation on 10 Jan) is the last entry on the page, Feb 1, no further information given.

You're brilliant the two of you.

Only town I can find that's similar is Corran? Any other parishes come to mind?

I have looked through a list of parishes in a reasonable radius and can't see any that fit. Do you have the baptisms of any of their children? Which parish are they in?

You are awesome!

Hadn't started on the kids yet but on checking for Christian Jamieson it shows the Parish as

Carriden, West Lothian, Scotland

That must be it!!!
