Really confused
« on: Thursday 07 May 20 01:02 BST (UK) »
Hi

My great great grandfather Abraham l denning had several children including Harry. Grace and Walter.

I have got 2 Walters but not sure which is correct.

1) Walter L Denning which is on a boat to Ireland in 1907
2) Walter s Denning died in 1981

Not sure if they are both 1 in the same or maybe the middle name is s and not l for Lincoln. Either way he was a Dr and don't have much on him as I cannot the confusion out of my head. Any help greatly appreciated

Can you include some info as to birthyears/birthplaces/where died.  You have posted on the USA board but no mention of where in the USA they were born/lived/died

Following on from Carole...

Was Walter married, where, when?

Either way are there any clues as to his status which match on either records you have i.e. the boat journey or death?

I'm sure he was born in Brookline, Massachusetts around 1900-1904 he went to londonderry in 1907 aboard the numidian I think but I do know his brother Harry was born 1894 South dakota and my great grandmother born 1897 in missouri

Where is the original 1981 document?
It is not uncommon for an L to be transcribed as an S and vice versa.

I think This is the birth of the one who died 1981

The date of birth is the same.

But he is clearly Walter S in the obituaries I can just manage to se at newspapers.com.  (They are blurry as I don’t have “premium”

Mention of his military is on Ancestry. He was a Lt Col in medical corps.  Graduated university of Vermont 1929.
In 1930 he’s at a hospital a Doctor.  lists his parents as father b US and mother born Ireland.... I think that fits your man doesn’t it?
