When was he born ?
It's not an uncommon name so anything that helps.
Added:
Was he the Thomas died aged 65 ?
If it's the right Thomas he appears in 1939 as a railway linesman

Was his wife called Mary Grunner?  And did he have daughters called Violet and Dorothy?

Yes I have his death certificate he was born 15th July 1876 and died 2nd May 1942 making him 65. Violet was my mum and her sister Dorothy. I have questions about another sister but that is a bit of a mystery. My Gran was Mary Grunner but she died in 1951 when I was only 3.
