Baptisms of William TUDOR and Anne MORSE please
« on: Friday 08 May 20 12:37 BST (UK) »
Hello

William Tudor and Anne Morse married on 28 Apr 1724 at St Peter, Dixton Newton, Monmouthshire. I am seeking baptisms for both of them if someone has access to the relevant records. Thank you so much for your time.

There is a Baptism in Monmouth for a William on 17 Jan 1700 to a John and Mary.

Film ref 992324

There are a few Anne Morse baptisms but the nearest that I find on Ancestry is in St Mary de Lodes Church in Gloucester on 17 Aug 1702 to a Thomas and Sarah

Hi osprey

Thank you so much for the baptisms of the children, however I just wondered if you could check that the daughter Anne baptised in 1729 was definitely buried in 1746? As I have her as the Ann Tudor who married my ancestor Thomas Herbert on 9 June 1761 in Llangovan! And as the mother of my ancestor Charles Herbert baptised 1768 in Llangovan. Can you please tell me where you found the burial?

If the burial does state she was the daughter of William and Anne Tudor then I'll need to search for an alternative baptism for my ancestor Ann Tudor.

Hi again osprey
I just found the burial on Findmypast. This has thrown a spanner in the works, as the baptism in 1729 in Monmouth was the most likely baptism for her.

yes, as you found definitely the daughter of William & Ann. I'll have a look around.

there's a baptism 4 Feb 1747/48 in Llangoven for Ann Tudor, no parents names noted so possibly not an infant. There's a John Tudor baptising children in the parish at that time. He left a will which mentions his daughter Ann and son-in-law Thomas Herbert. They got the remainder of the estate and they were named as executors, possibly she was the oldest child.
