Scottish Regiment records
« on: Friday 08 May 20 20:28 BST (UK) »
There is a gravestone in a Manitoba cemetery that states the person was a Private in the Scottish Regiment and died in 1927.  Does anyone know where any records or archives are for this Scottish Regiment?

Liam, there were many Scottish Regiments, do you mean a Canadian Scottish Regiment like the Black Watch?

Skoosh.

It may have been a Canadian Scottish Regiment, I'm not too sure.  The grave is in Manitoba, Canada and the gravestone says Scottish Regiment.  Here's the gravestone attached.  I'd like to find out more but am not sure how to go about doing so and unfortunately only have this so far.

Thanks

Hi.

To help pin him down...

Here is a short obituary from the Winnipeg Free Press (April 12 1927).  It says his address was 612 Erin Street.

1926 census at this address...is John, wife Lillian and 2 sons.   The census says John is 35, he came to Canada in 1912.   He was born in Scotland.

Here is the link to the Library and Archives Canada WW1 records that ecksdochter found above.   As mentioned above, you can download the full military file from this page.   It usually takes a while to download these files...slow!
