Hello :)

It appears that George Anderson had a son out of wedlock with Christine Wishart? I'd like to get the whole entry transcribed.

So far I've got :(

October 10 1674 / .....??....

The 9th day George Anderson and Christian Wishart gave up their names in contract for ...... of marriage and their being a ..... that Christian wishart was with child ........ .... him if it was so ...... ... .... to pay their fine (?) and to make .... satisfaction ..... ....

AND also

Agnes Burn (relic) of John Colvill ---- What does relic mean?
Crawford, Smith, Marr, Newton, McClement, and more :)

I'll do the easy one. Relic (think was in place of the term relict)

A surviving spouse of a deceased person. It was a term used for widow.'

You see it in old obituaries, often where the widow is very old or the death of the spouse happened a long time ago.

their names in contract for purpose of marriage and (their being a report

that Christian wishart was with child) the min(iste)r interrogated them if

it was so they confessed ye same and promised to pay their fine

and to make publick satisfaction yrfore qn they are enjoyned


qlk = quhilk = which (not 9th)
ys = this
yrfore = therefore
qn = quhen = when
