Denne-Arderne Marriage
« on: Friday 08 May 20 23:53 BST (UK) »
Hi I'm hoping someone here might be able to provide some thoughts on the following marriage.

My ancestor John Denne of Kingston in Kent, married a woman named Alice Arderne probably in the mid 1430s. He was born about 1407 and their first child was born c1438.

The Denne family is very well documented as is the Arderne family, but one thing has puzzled me. All the records I have seen, including pedigrees in texts and online, seem to suggest that Alice and her family were from Cheshire which most records stating she was born in 1412 in Bredbury, Cheshire.

Despite looking for another Alice in Kent for a long time now I have found no other candidate. Could that Alice from Cheshire be the one who married John Denne? The thing that puzzles me is the distance between Bredbury and Kingston.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Matt
