« on: Monday 11 May 20 15:53 BST (UK) »
Seeking help with my European family tree research. My Grandmother was Emilie Seger James born feb 7th 1872 in Alsace . I have hit a "brick wall " as to records before 1900. Thank you.

Hi there,

"Alsace" refers to a very large area - normally we would try to narrow it down, ideally to a town.
Here you have Mulhouse, and I guess this is your friend posting:

 - if you go here, select commune as Mulhouse, type of act "Naissances" (Births), put her birthdate in Date exacte (day month year), and then click "Chercher" it will bring up some results.

The only birth that fits Feb 7th 1872 in Mulhouse is for an Emilie Marguerite Seguin, daughter of Camille Seguin and Marguerite Cleophe? Emilie Beuner

Does not seem to fit with the other information you have on her parents, but unfortunately all the known family dates (births of the children)

The best thing would be to start by contact the Mulhouse archives:

While they are probably not fully open right now, they should be able to give you some advice about accessing births/marriages from the 1890s.
