Hannah Hyland (Deegan, Dunnett) of Islandbridge?
« on: Tuesday 12 May 20 22:02 BST (UK) »
I've been searching for Hannah for a good while now and the majority of information I have on her is from her 2nd Marriage cert. to a John Dunnett.

As you will see in the attached cert, she married John Dunnett in Dublin, 1867. He was an English Soldier. She was first married to a man with the surname 'Deegan', and her maiden name is 'Hyland'. Her father is John Hyland (Finisher of cloth). She was living at the time of this marriage, in Islandbridge.

Now, I have searched for Hannah Hyland/Deegan/Dunnett and I can't seem to find either a birth or marriage cert for her first marriage, or death cert. I'd love to find out who 'Deegan' is and if she had children for him. I know as far as 1887, she was still living in Dublin, from a newspaper article I found on her husband, John (unfortunately, I can't find it at the moment but I have a copy somewhere on my computer).

She and John had my 2 x great grandfather John Dunnett (b.1874), and another son called James ('Younger' according to soldier records, they are a military family). I can't seem to find either of her son's baptism records. I'd love to find these. I think I found John Dunnett's death record (Dublin, 1912).

I *may* have found her father, John Hyland, who lived in Sarah's place, Islandbridge. He was married to an Elizabeth/Eliza/Lilly M. and all this is according to a will left to Elizabeth in 1887/88. I'm not for certain that these are her parents but I just want to include as much info as possible.

I feel like I'm missing something and maybe someone can have a look for me with fresh eyes. Maybe she's not even from Dublin? I understand that the records from this era aren't great but I'm just a bit baffled as to why I can't even find anything 'official' that confirms her identity besides the marriage cert to John. Any and all help is very welcome! Prepared also for a 'dead end'!

P.S. I have to split the marriage cert because I'm not able to upload it in full, so the quality isn't great. Here is the link to the cert: https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1867/11512/8233937.pdf

Have you got birth certs for her sons?
Could the names be mixed up.
It gives her signing as Hannah Hyland but if her married name was Deegan she should have signed as Hannah Deegan, granted that would mean her father's name is also incorrect.
Looks odd

that's how they usually sign

Unfortunately, I don't have their birth certs. I've been looking for ages. And that has in fact crossed my mind, but I guess I just trusted the cert. These things can get mixed up, I'll for sure take a look into it. Thank you!

He was from Burgh, Woolbridge Paffock, Suffolk. That's an interesting thought however, I don't think so, as I have a census form with his son John (my great grandfather) and his family. He states that he was born in Dublin City. Here's the link:

Not having any luck.
If you could get the church record of John's marriage it might also name his mother.
Doesn't look like they are online anywhere
https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0512 Assuming I have the correct St.Joseph's
