Houghtons in Little Hallingbury
« on: Wednesday 13 May 20 15:03 BST (UK) »
I am trying to connect three persons who all appear around the Little Hallingbury are at some point. Any information will be most appreciated. Thank you in advance:

Thomas Houghton b c1720 he died in LH in 1769 I know he had a lot of children and that he married Ann Westwood but other than that I am drawing a blank

William Houghton b c1717 hid daughter Elizabeth m a Mr Gosling in Hassobury nr Farnham and there is a death for William in 1755 in Little Hallingbury

Alice Houghton married George Robinson in 1747 in Little Hallingbury and had 3 children in the area

Up until this time there does not seem to be any mention of Houghton's but feel there must be a link somewhere. Little Hallingbury comes under Essex but the nearest registration district is Bishop Stortford in Herts.

Apart from H.A.L.S. itself, there is a connection to Jamaica ( 1700's  plantation owners? )

Note that Thomas Houghton married Ann Westwood by banns 1st Aug 1740 St Michael's Bishop's Stortford Hertfordshire. They were both of this parish.

Alice Houghton (single) marr Mr George Robinson (wid) OTP 2nd Sept 1747 by Licence also at St Michael's Bishop's Stortford.

There are a few other Houghton marriages in Bishop's Stortford - they may or not be connected.
