Travelling showmen
« on: Wednesday 13 May 20 21:51 BST (UK) »
My second great grandfather went from being a hawker to travelling showman with a stall and roundabout in 1901 census. i Have an amazing photo of the fairground stall!  He came from Warrington, Lancashire. Does anyone know where i may find out more information on travelling fairs in Lancashire around this time? I've tried Sheffield University fair website and Lancashire family history site.
Many thanks.

Manchester archives have a few things. I’ve not looked hard, but there is this teaching pack.

Oh, I see the link isn’t working, I’ve deleted it,  I put “showmen “. Into the search.

Here’s the main page

Added, is the photograph black & white?  Sounds like it would be fun to colourise.
