4th Brigade North Division Royal Artillery 1886
« on: Thursday 14 May 20 11:32 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am new to researching my family tree and have found a militia attestation form from my g g grandad for the 4th Bde North Division Royal Artillery from 1886.  Can anyone tell me anything about this division or where I can go to learn about it?

Many thanks

This was part of the militia, the part time volunteer army organisation of the time.  The 4th Brigade Northern Division was known as the Yorkshire Artillery Militia.  Piece here:

In April 1886 they assembled recruits for 56 days training at Scarborough which perhaps is when he joined??  Annual camp was to be July.

Because the militia were the responsibility of the local authorities rather than the War Office, records if they exist, tend to be found in county archives.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.
