The RE won't have been the only regiment there: they'll have been needed for some of the work but there will have been infantry and other arms there too. The RE's motto is Ubique and they do live up to it!

The RE won't have been the only regiment there:


John Sutton's "Wait for the Wagon" mentions "51 Company RASC", "4 Armoured Brigade" as the first 2 Corps to arrive "4 Company RASC" and "242 Company RASC soon followed". He just doesn't give dates to pin which to '48.
