Just popped in Whilst making a cuppa having been sewing most of the day! Thanks for your kind thoughts too.... today has been a better one... the sun is shining although I've been inside..... more later

Just a quick note regarding hummus- it's so easy add all together add some tahini and lemon juice, garlic and sometimes I add curry powder or chilli flakes... I know you said you don't have a blender I use a little electric chopper that I bought in Lidls for fourteen pounds... sorry numbers stuck! And it's brilliant for whizzing up all sorts.

Back to the sewing! On my seventh set now... of scrubs thta is!

Hmmm, might think about it when I'm visiting the shops again.  :)

I've just Googled 'Can I freeze hummus?' and it seems I can! Will report back in a few months' time.  ;D

Glad you're feeling better Caroline, well done with the scrubs.

What has happened to your plants Roobarb?

My roses were spectacular last year, people stopped to comment, there were white and some yellow.
Like small cabbages - but- they got black spot ,so drastic pruning in the Autumn and treatment and it has not reappeared so far ,but so few buds as yet .
A peony has appeared which I thought I had lost ,but again no buds as yet.
I lost a lovely Ceanothus ,flipping cat wee, the area absolutely soaked in it, so I put moth balls in jars on their sides so the scent might deter the cats but not get wet from rain.
But the damage was done .
I like cats and you cannot blame owners ,cats are free spirits .
Foxgloves there now and lots of orange peel which is a deterrent.
Just wish I could get some plants, for the bare spots and hanging baskets etc.
Finally got a letter today from our Council saying as  I was  old and
vulnerable , blah blah blah, they took their time!

After having a good day yesterday I've been feeling down again. I'm sure no-one on this topic would be mean enough to tell me to get a grip, I can hardly believe I read such a comment elsewhere (not directed at me). The understanding and sympathy I've received throughout has helped me a lot.

I was annoyed by the "get a grip" comment too and it wasn't directed at me either. I was going to express my disapproval but thought I might be adding fuel to the fire so I desisted. Was cheerful until I read that.
Lost track of days. Don't know what I did yesterday. Not a lot.
Chilly wind, sun shining brightly, deceiving me into venturing outside without sufficient cladding.
Went to front door at 8, brief clap, wave to neighbours across street, back inside, too cold.

Oh my gosh!
Was it accidental or on purpose?
I did not know. Is the soil contaminated ?
Really sorry to hear that.

It was deliberate Viktoria. I don't think the soil has been contaminated, I think by the look of them that she's sprayed something on them from her side of the fence. When she used to be friendly with me she once told me that the neighbour at the back had accused her of poisoning her plants which she hotly denied. I'd noticed at that time that part of my ivy had died but didn't pursue it, I just planted another one. This is much more extensive damage to plants that have been there for twenty years, it's so upsetting.

I remember now, your ivy and clematis, when you said plants I visualised bedding plants etc.
Hope the plastic barrier will work.
Not relevant to your problem but my daughter bought me a small fig tree last year with its own biological insecticide and  food.
There was a bit left  of the food last year so I put it round a  Buddlea,.
Well both appearedto have died!
But now there are a few figs .a very few leaves and the Buddlea ,whilst not happy has leaves but no blossom buds at all.
I threw the food away, had made sure the dilution was correct etc.
Willy nilly spraying is just as bad as deliberate sabotage.
Hope they recover.
It is not nice though is it,and so nasty.
Cheer up, you have been very busy and seemingly we are in for a heatwave next week.
Have a good night’s sleep.
Viktoria.

I think we are all getting down days, it is difficult, most of us don't like our choices taken away from  us and that it what has happened , none of us like it but I am hoping soon we will see the light at the end of the tunnel,  we had a frozen fish and chip meal this week, my comment to my husband was " when this is over I would really like to go to a proper fish and chip restuarant", I am easily pleased !
