Ancestry has some records from New South Wales, Australia, Unassisted Immigrant Passenger Lists, 1826-1922 for:

Peter Trainer, origin British or Manchester, born 1839-40 as crew on shipping between Launceston and Sydney in 1868 and in the 1880s

Also from Trove
'Peter Traynor, one of the crew, and an old shipman from 1868 to 1870...'

1886 'The Bella Beaton, in charge of Peter Traynor, arrived fron the Straits Islands...'

Thanks Matthew.  Yes, I'm trying to figure out whether the sailor Peter mentioned in the crew lists is the same Peter who died in Tasmania in 1919.  Also, whether he might be the brother of a Tasmanian convict Margaret (later known as Mary) Treanor (1827-1886) who married Thomas Trainer on 11 March 1847 recorded under the names Mary Treianor and Thomas Treainor.  I suspect there may have been 2 Peter Traynors (sp???) in Manchester.  It looks like her brother Peter was in Tasmania in 1889 as someone with the initials P.T. claiming Mary to be a sister placed an "In Memoriam" notice in a Tassie newspaper -
The Tasmanian (Launceston, Tas. : 1881 - 1895)  Sat 6 Apr 1889  Page 15  Family Notices -

" In Memoriam
In loving remembrance of my dear sister,
Mary Trainer, who died on April 3, 1886 :—
Rest, dear sister, thy_trouble is o'er ;
Thy loving lips shall speak no more.
How I miss you every day,
None but my aching heart can say.
Soon, too soon, comes death to show
We love more deeply than we know;
And love in life should strive to see
Sometimes what love in death would be.
Three sad years have passed, my sister dear
'No more thy face I'll see,
But with a brother's fondest love
My memory clings to thee. P.T."

Regards
Karen

From electoral rolls

Peter TRAYNOR
1914 111 Bathurst st gardener; & 63 Elizabeth st gardener
1915 111 Bathurst st gardener
1917 85 Elizabeth st no occupation
1919 174 York st no occupation

There is nothing I can see for him on the Tas. Names Index, but there may be some hospital records for him that I will look in to.

I posted a question to the Tas Library & Archives and they found the following in the admission register for the Launceston General Hospital (TAHO AB596)

Summarised:
Peter Traynor aged 80y, old age pensioner, 44 Cimitiere st
Nationality - Eng.(unclear)
Admitted - May(?) 1919; Died June 1

I'll have another look at the register and any other associated items in person once the archives reopen.

Hi, Whilst this does not fully answer the post the below MAY be of interest.

1841 UK census ref HO107 576 11 16 details a Peter TRAINER aged 4 born Manchester. Parents recorded as Thomas & Susan and siblings.

6th April 1862 marriage at Manchester Cathedral details a Peter Trainer aged 23 occ "Mariner" father Thomas Trainer. Spouse Sarah Cocker.--image on Anc*

First child I can find is a SUSAN Trainer baptised 18th May 1869-Parents Peter Trainer "sailor" and Sarah.
Cannot as yet find on 1871 uk census

The following children are Alice Morley TRAYNOR jq 1872 mmn Corker Manchester-appears 1881 uk census
Jane born Scarborough c 1874-- appears 1881 uk census
Annie born Scarborough c 1876--appears on 1881 census
Arthur Mackwood TRANNER dq 1878 Scarborough mmn "Corker"--appears on 1881 census.

On this census transcribed as "TRAINER" Sarah the mother is recorded as Unmarried?

Arthur Mackwood TRAYNOR marries Florence Kelly dq 1906-image on Anc* Does say father is John Traynor -deceased!!
Being a Mariner/Sailor find Peter on uk census is really difficult.

John
