Ifton Colliery

I believe my grandfather, Edward Malchus Hughes, left the farm in Llansilin/Llangedwyn area to come and work at Ifton Colliery during the 1920s.  How can I confirm this?  Are there are sites/facilities which give the names of employees at that time?

I don't think there are any lists.  Such a pity, my Dad might well have known of him. 
There is a Chirk History group on Facebook which covers Ifton Colliery as well. I don't think St Martins has it's own group.

Both sites have photos of Ifton - many include my relatives 

I visited it a few times in the 1950s with Dad. He wouldn't let me go down when it was opened for visitors as he didn't want my sister an I to see teh working conditions.
