Thank you for that information, Lily M, I will certainly follow that up as it seems a distinct possibility in sorting out these relationships.

Hello francoso, Are you still interested in background information on Thomas Austin? I have being researching Thomas' family for some years and have gathered much that may be of interest. I am the GG grandson of Thomas and live in NZ. Please let me know if you are interested in exchanging additional information from that you have already found. Your research effort is most impressive and you have raised some interesting questions around Thomas' family origins.
Regards,
John A

I have handwritten notes from a deceased uncle that claims Thomas Austin (Old Stick Leg) born December 18, 1794 was the father of Thomas Austin, Jr. born in 1820.  Also, Thomas Austin, Jr. was married to Emily Anna Atkins and they both emigrated to Canada where they had a daughter Gertrude. Can you verify any this for me?   Thanks
