Samuel Eve
« on: Sunday 17 May 20 17:10 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone
I am looking for information about Samuel Eve born in Bath 1727 died 1763. He was oboist for the music band in the pump room. I can't find his marriage or trace his father.
Thanks for your help. :)

The actual filmed record of Samuel Eve's baptism on 31 Dec 1727 at St Michael's in Bath is on Ancestry.

Interestingly this states Samuel to be the son of John Eve, a Stranger.

So you may need to look further afield for the marriage of his parents - Trish has already found one possibility.

You probably have these - but a Samuel Eve and Mary, his wife appear to have had at least the following children - most have 'given names with a 'foreign' influence;

1751 Gusatavas Adolpus   St Peter and St Paul, Bath
1752 Angelo Ferdinand      as above
1758 Eliza Serena             St Michaels, Bath
1760 Betty                        as above
1762 Charlotte Sophia       as above
1763 Sophia Lucia             as above

All these baptisms were in Bath. I haven't checked for burials of any of them, hence I don't know if they all survived. There is a gap between 1752 and 1758 - so there may be more children.

Thank you for your help.
I have seen Samuel and Mary as his wife. Do you think   Martha could be Mary?
I am going to check.
I have also found a Samuel Eve married to Grace Wright and Father of John Eve.
Kind regards

The later ones seem to be at St Michaels, Bath.

At the marriage of the child Gustavas Adolphus -- that takes place at Bath Abbey -- but he is described as of St Michael's Parish. This doesn't answer your question, Garstonite -- but I must confess to assuming it was the Abbey - and we should never assume should we!

I have now added the baptism locations to my post. On Find My Past -- they are transcriptions - and state SS St Peter and St Paul.

This does seem to be The Abbey -- but why would it be strange to have baptisms there - or is that one of my 'stupid' questions?
