George Raymond Clark(e) death
« on: Monday 18 May 20 17:04 BST (UK) »
George was born abt 1876 Michigan. He married Beatrice Gertrude Munn 1901 in Royal Oak and they had children 1904-14. In 1920 and 1940 Beatrice indicates that she is a widow but I can not find a death for George so I don't know if he is dead or has left the family.

 - Newspaper record (in German) of 1917 suggests he left the family around 1913

From autotranslate - he left his wife Beatrice and three children in the spring of 1913 and was found again in Detroit in 1917. She had a warrant out for his arrest. He is mentioned as the adopted son of a "Brother" Wills (some sort of preacher).  He supposedly had been in prison in California.

 - this would look to be Georg as the son of "H O Wills" and wife Mary in 1880.

Possibly a reference to Beatrice here:

"Mrs Clark", a daughter-in-law of of the late evangelist H. O. Wills, seeking assistance in 1914.  Three children, and her husband had been in prison in California for forgery and otherwise deserted her on many occasions.

He certainly seems to have been a busy man!

1894, George Wills adopted son of H. O. Wills sentenced to 3 years:

In 1911 arrested in Cincinnati as "Edwards", confirmed as George Wills foster son of H. O. Wills

In 1912 H. O. Wills passed away, supposedly with a adopted son and daughter in law in Detroit:

There was a book written about Henry O Wills in 1890:

It has sketches of him and his wife :)

Thanks jorose

That answers the question of why his death can not be found. His track record suggests that he could have died at any time, anywhere and under any name. I wonder how he chose Clark?

Much appreciated
