Hamilton Patterson
« on: Wednesday 20 May 20 11:18 BST (UK) »
Agnes Patterson married Archibald Carse on the 31st January 1860 in Comber, Co Down. Her father is listed as Hamilton Patterson and I'm trying to find more information about him. He is listed as a Farmer in either what appears to be Ballyvea or Ballyrea. Any information would be appreciated.

The marriage cert gives the couples residence at time of marriage not fathers residence
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1860/09596/5479867.pdf
however there is this Hamilton died 1874 Farmer in Ballyrea
http://www.willcalendars.nationalarchives.ie/reels/cwa/005014891/005014891_00682.pdf
His death cert image isn't online yet but the index gives his age as 81 which if correct seems a bit old for the bride's father but could be her grandfather.

Thanks for that update on Hamilton Patterson. The article refers to Ballyrea (Newtownards) and that puts him in the correct area for my search! If Hamilton was 81 in 1874 he was born around 1793 and I reckon Agnes was born in 1829 making her father 36 when she was born. That could work - my dad was 32 when I was born and I'm the first born in the family! She married in 1860 making her 31 so late marriages could run in the family!  :)

Isaac Moorhead was married to a Mary Jane Patterson but her father was William, quite likely related.

Perhaps the same Mary who was witness to Agnes' marriage.

To MonicaL and Kiltaglassan - this is the correct Hamilton Patterson as it's his daughter Agnes we are interested in and she is named in the Will.  This has also revealed his wifes maiden name - Margaret Anderson.
Thanks also to Sinann who has given me another line of enquiry to pursue!
Many thanks folks for your kind assistance.
