You don't appear to have acknowledged the efforts on the last topic.
(Charles Morris)

As regards the Hurley family. There is a 28000+ name tree on Ancestry, which does NOT appear to lead into any proven details for your tree(s).
I suspect it to be another wild goose chase.

There are a lot of results for a William Hurley born 1730 in Somerset.

The existing extensive Ancestry tree that you no doubt have already found has Oliver as his Father and his Father is also an Oliver.

These trees will give you a starting point to verify their content and build your own tree.

Good Luck

So possibly no connection to Hurley?

Charles Byfield was mentioned on topic "Hambridge Walker and Thompson canal people" replies 3,4,7,8,10, 36. Thread is 15 pages long and contains a lot of other names.

Well I just skimmed through it and found some information, (but not all) that I posted in the last couple of days on another thread, was there over two years ago but not followed up.  ;)

However, I don’t think I found these people (this thread)  mentioned apart from the Byfields.

As a matter of interest re the name of the subject of this thread - Hurley:

Elias Markes is mentioned but I think is not relevant now as Rosie’s post seems to clarify.

Elias Markes married Joan Spurney (or very similar) in 1835, Otterford, Somerset.
Maybe Spurney has been read as Hurley - it is difficult to read.  However, I doubt that Elias Markes is relevant and therefore the Hurley folk here.
