Llanfairisgaer or Llanddeiniolen
« on: Wednesday 20 May 20 22:12 BST (UK) »
Good evening my ancestors are from Bodanrhig, Llanfairisgaer, Caernarfonshire.  My query is on my 4th great grandmothers death certificate it says she died 17th May 1848 at Lleinia Llanddeiniolen, that was crossed out and Llanfairisgaer was added.  Is anyone able to confirm that there was such a place in Llanfairisgaer?  Also what was it?  Her son John Morris Williams was present at the death and his address was Bodanrhig.

Thank you all and please all be safe
Kind regards
 :)

Hi Heather

It looks as if  it could be. As shown on this map but it is close to Llanrug.

There is another one further down the Llŷn peninsula but not the one shown on the map link that I gave.

Llanfair-is-gaer, is basically the parish based at what is now called Y Felinheli, formally known as Port Dinorwic. Llanddeiniolen is a neighbouring parish slightly to the north of it. Large new industrial towns such as Bethesda, didn't respect traditional parish boundaries that were formed in the Middle Ages and didn't respect the changes of the Industrial Revolution. I suspect that she died in Bethesda, which traversed both parishes, but there was uncertainty about the actual parish that "that" part of Bethesda was in.

Findmypast has records for Llanfair-is-gaer and Llandeiniolen.

There are no burial records for Llanfair-is-gaer in 1848 but there is one on 20th May for Llanddeiniolen of Jane Williams. Her abode is not very clear but could be Lleina or a variation.

1851 census for Llanfairisgaer shows this address. It looks like Llainiau or Lleiniau and appears to be close to Bodanrhig - second clip.

You can see Lleiniau, Bodanreg, on this map. Zoom out until visible.
