Looking for Agnes Shaw and John Brown, Barholm
« on: Saturday 23 May 20 16:37 BST (UK) »
Hi All,

I am looking for any information on an Agnes Shaw, born c1725, daughter of James Shaw and Mary McCourtie, Kells, Kirkcudbrightshire.  She was mentioned in a will of her brother, William Shaw of Glenlee, Kells, Kirkcudbrightshire.  All I have is " to my sister Agnes Shaw and her husband John Brown of Barholm".  William died in 1772.  I cannot find anything on Agnes and her husband, and the only Barholm I know of, is in Kirkmabreck Parish.

Thanks in advance.

Tom

Hi Tom
Just noticed your post. There are 2 Barholms. One is just outside Creetown and the other Barholm Farm is near Carsluith and has a castle beside it.  I believe that both are in Kirkmabreck Parish.
I hope this is helpful

I've found my Agnes Shaw and her husband John Brown.  Buried at Creetown (Kirkmabreck)  Balhasie is mentioned on Monumental Inscription.

Thanks everyone for all the help.
